Focus on innovation at Intel. Dissertation is presented as a series of 3 essays. Although a relevant topic, it is not clear how much value he will gain from the session. All data is collected and he seems to be nearing defense. Again though, it is not clear. Advisor letter does not provide much insight.

I would still go with this one. There is always the chance he could gain some insights useful for further work. He has never participated in an OCIS doctoral consortium before.

Seems like a great topic and he's pretty far along, although having collected one's data (ethnographic) is a LONG way from having made sense of it and being ready to write it up. I suspect he'd gain a lot of value from the process. Advisor letter hard to interpret.
